On the Road Bernard Jay has compiled an extensive list of possible road runs of varying lengths to sporting events, places of interest or eating houses across the south-east and beyond.

These are largely Sunday dates, but there are a few Saturday and midweek options as well.

For June, there is the London/Brighton Classic Car Run on the 2nd; the Classic Wheels and Fun Day at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge, on the 9th; and also at Brooklands on the 23rd, the Ace Cafe Motorcycle event at which Witley MCC will also be officially present. Other options for the month (with no firm dates yet) are the Attwell Wilson Motor Museum at Calne, Wilts (Wednesday), and the Beaulieu Motor Museum in the New Forest (weekend).

In July, members hope to visit the Haynes Museum at Sparkford (a Wednesday), and the London Motorcycle Museum, via the Ace Café, on a weekend. There is also the prospect of a BSB visit to Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 20th/21st.

Lots more to come over the following months, but please note in particular the Owen Tyler Happening on Saturday 10th August. Starting from Compton, this enjoyable run through Surrey and Hampshire will be followed by a ploughman’s lunch and presentation of awards. This year, proceeds will go to the Sam Beare Hospice.

Don’t forget the Classic Bike Meet at the Cricketers, Pirbright on the first Tuesday of each summer month. There is also a long list of destinations for lunch (like Bury Hill and others much further afield).
