Help for HeroesAs you may already know, the 2010 Witley Boxing Day Enduro’s chosen charity was Help for Heroes. The Witley Committee is very pleased to announce that a cheque for £1500 has been sent to Help for Heroes. Many thanks to all the riders and others who also contributed. Your generosity has gone to a very worthwhile cause.
I’m not the enduro delegate, but I would like to offer congratulations to Paul Merriman and Max Varney. Paul was best Expert and Max best Clubman in the 2010 South Eastern Combine Championship. Well done the two of you, and all those other riders who support Witley and ride for the Club throughout the year. Of the clubs, Witley was third overall. Hopefully one of our enduro delegates will fill us in on some of the background?
Finally: We are just a couple of months away from the AGM – so time to start thinking, is there anything you could do on the Committee? I will be standing down as Company Secretary, so there’s one job you could be thinking about...Bernard Jay
WATCH OUT, THERE’S MORE MONEY-MAKING SCHEMES ABOUT...Did you know... that as a means of combatting uninsured drivers – fair enough actually – new legislation (the Continous Insurance Enforcement regulations) is due to come into force very shortly, which will make it necessary to keep your untaxed vehicle insured, even if it is being kept off the road and you are not using it – unless it is declared SORN. That means whether your road tax or your insurance has expired, you must either renew it, declare SORN, or face the prospect of a fine of up to £1000, or possibly having your vehicle seized and crushed. Happy New Year
Photos...We are always in need of event photos. If you have your camera with you, and especially if you are not taking on any official responsibility, please think about sending some pictures through for publication in the Newsflash. In the meantime, for excellent trials (and some enduro) photos, including plenty from the Charlie Wake, many thanks indeed to Gloria Moss for pointing us to her site www.mosstrialspics.co.uk and also to Angela Mills’ site www.photoboxgallery.com/sllimpics – do check them out.
Witley Annual Social and Awards EveningIn the light of the increasing difficulty in gaining support for the Annual Dinner and Dance over recent years, your Committee have decided to try out a new format this year.
We hope that a ticket price of only £10 (£5 for under 16s) for a great evening of good food, good music and good company will have you falling over yourselves to sign up. Please put Saturday March 12th in your diary (if you look in your Witley diary it is already there!) and book your tickets as soon as possible. Jo or Rebecca will be very pleased to hear from you. Witley Summer Barn Dance After a break last year, we have another Witley Barn Dance to look forward to. Our Social team have done another grand job in pulling this together. Although it’s some way off, make sure it’s in your diary and get in touch with Rebecca or Jo (see numbers on this page) for more information.
