NortonSunday dawned very bright – too bright, for as we met up at Compton the clouds came over to darken the day but not the Witley Spirit!

Bernard mark 2 (not Jay) was already at the club. Didn't have to wait long and Dave Kav was on the scene. Paul Jay and Steve arrived, then a most peculiar sound; in swept Witley’s own Steve McQueen, Barry on the Ariel complete with his own photographer (disguised as Becky). All went well to the stop.

After which, a couple of times round the roundabout – this bought a few comments, which way on the M27? We then lost Dave Kav who was kindly waiting for Bernard, but eventually we all arrived at Bashley Cross – Sammy Miller’s. Just putting the bikes on the stands as Derek and Betty Prior appeared.

Classic...Lunch time. We sat down to be served by some very pleasant young ladies, and all reasonable prices – Sunday roast and all the bits including a mug of tea and change from £10.00!! We then had a look round the Museum – very interesting, and with some new exhibits also to look at!!

The trip home was led by Dave Kav and the sat nav (Dave, my bike is not for off-roading). When we got to the M27, the traffic was thick and we had to pick our way through it (by this time we had lost Bernard and it was not long before Steve was missing – hope you got home in good time). Hope you all enjoyed it; for those who did not come, you missed a good and interesting day (and don’t say we don’t do anything for the road rider!) Graham Ford
