Now in its 77th year, this event attracted 90 starters. Being a South Eastern Championship event helped boost the numbers.
Having 74 riders entered before the closing date, another 19 entered late or on the day (3 non-starters). As always, this causes more work for the officials but there seems to be no way to stop these late entries. The only discouraging thing (for them) is that late entries do not get championship points. However, the club is not that mean and we do give awards to all finishers, late entry or not. After all, they all pay the same entry fee. A full list of results is available on our website www.witleymcc.org. Nice to note that the Weston Trophy winner did bring an observer with him!
Our thanks to all officials and workers. The normal bunch of Jo, Pat & John (catering), Bill Glover starter, Diana assistant S of M, Pete Crummett, Laurence Richards, Derek Cranfield, Dave Kavanagh, Gordon Ayshford, Dickie Dale, Gordon Davis and Alan Blackman, Barry Brockman and Terry Tidbury for observing. Terry was of course also C of C, with Neil Bowker as Assistant. Thanks also to Paul Matthews and brother-in-law Kevin for carting the grub and coffee out to the observers. Was that a five Paul? And is the bum still wet?
The multi-coloured riders’ numbers help the observers a great deal but it does make hard work for the S of M. Almost every rider came up to thank the team for an excellent trial. So our great thanks to Terry for making the sections just right.

Expert: 1 Nicky Dowland (Sherco, 96 Trials) 34 marks lost; 2 Thomas Moss (Gas Gas, Eastbourne) 40; 3 Matthew Strank (Gas Gas, GEST) 45.
Intermediate: James Gammons (Gas Gas, Kingston) 21.
Novice: Paul Stephen (Montesa, Bexleyheath) 47.
Over 40: Marcus Faulkner (Scorpa, Carshalton) 13.
Over 50: Frank Puttock (Montesa, Wickham) 13.
Youth A: Matt Godden (Gas Gas, KYTC) 36.
Youth B: Charles Courtney (Sherco, Eastbourne) 55.
Youth C: Joe Gallone (Sherco, OWLS) 93.
Pre 67: Richard Whitebread (AJS, Bexleyheath) 34.
