Reg Bowker Trial – in memory of a Club stalwart…

The December TVTC Trial used the land at Normandy Hill, Ash, a favouite venue up to the early 1980s but unused since then.

This proved to be a splendid event, with 88 starters riding an course of 4 laps of 10 sections laid out to provide something interesting and challenging for every possible class of competitor. After the extremely wet weather of the previous week, the weather was dry if rather chilly, giving good conditions for an enjoyable day for riders and officials alike.
The following letter was received from Audrey Bowker after the trial:
On behalf of the Bowker family I would like to thank the Witley Club for promoting the Reg Bowker Trophy Trial on 14th December. I would like to thank Colin and Kelly for the organizing, publicity and counting the results, Bill Glover for creating the trophy from a piece of Reg’s wood, Jo’s Joint team for supplying the food and drink, the observers: Dickie Dale, Laurence Richards, Ben and Dan Alldred, Richard and Julie Alldred, Nick Robinson, Gerald and Mrs Hitchcock, Alec Jay, Gordon Ayshford, Dave Kavanagh, Derek Prior, Barry Brockman and all the other people who helped make this such a memorable day. I would also like to thank Neil and Aidan for planning the course and also, with the help of Peter and Darren Cox, laying out the sections in torrential rain on the Saturday. Reg would have been chuffed and overwhelmed by the amount of riders, club members and friends who turned out to support this event. I hope you all enjoyed the day and that this could be an annual event. We hope to see you next year.
Many thanks again
Audrey Bowker

Boxing Day Enduro 2008

The Witley MCC’s post–Christmas extravaganza once again lived up to expectations.

A fine, cold day gave good conditions for some excellent sport. There were 304 starters in all classes – the appearance of quads for the first time added some extra interest. A great deal of effort went into the preparation of the course and many thanks are due to all those who contributed to the success of the BXDE.
