Wings and Wheels 2010 Print E-mail

Well, it is an air showThe Dunsfold Park Wings and Wheels show has been a regular item in the Witley calendar for several years now. From an initial contact with John Bottomley (of the Brooklands Trust and also a Witley member), the approach of combining our usual display and a few assorted bikes with a youth arena trial demonstration featuring Surrey Schoolboys member has grown to become a firm favourite with the viewing public.

Last year the organisers brought the Witley arena in from the far-flung borders of the showground into a more prominent position near the classic car display. The same was true this year for the first two-day show, though the space wasn’t ideal for spectators, being only 25 metres wide but 50 deep.

Wings and Wheels: Bank Holiday weekend: HELP!

We will be taking part once again in the major air/car/bike show in the area over the august Bank Holiday weekend, 29th & 30th. Why not come along...?

This year Wings and Wheels takes place on both the Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, and anyone who is available to help with setting up on Saturday, manning the stand and the arena trial, and packing up for the best possible getaway, will be very welcome. Please talk to Colin Boniface soon if you are available and interested. Camping is a possibility.

Summer BBQ

Some 40 odd (!) Club members and friends enjoyed an evening at the Clubroom on Thursday 5th august. Jo and Becky provided a grand spread, including not only the meat content but also salads and puddings, and a pleasant time was had by all, enhanced on the nostalgia front by Colin’s display of collected memorabilia which certainly brought back thoughts of days past... GD Brown Trial 2010 Print E-mail

Some 34 riders turned out for the Gd Brown trial held at knightons, dunsfold, on Sunday June 13th. Knightons was very dry and proved very popular with 4 laps of 8 mainly ‘traditional’ sections with a good ride round.

A close Expert battle took place between Alan Ayres, James Connor and Mike Powdrell; Alan was in impressive form cleaning all but a stray dab on the last attempt of muddy gully of section 6. James just shaded Mike on 9 with most cleans.

On the blue route, Ian Peberdy (200 Whitehawk) was in a class of his own and stayed clean. Stream section 1 proved to be challenging but passable for the Red route, but with notable determined rides from Paul Dale and Jim Connor. Youth riders Aidan Bowker (pictured), Jake Tutt and Ethan Watmore had a close battle in the Youth Novice class. An enjoyable day for all.
