Help for Heroes As you may already know, the 2010 Witley Boxing Day Enduro’s chosen charity was Help for Heroes. The Witley Committee is very pleased to announce that a cheque for £1500 has been sent to Help for Heroes. Many thanks to all the riders and others who also contributed. Your generosity has gone to a very worthwhile cause.
I’m not the enduro delegate, but I would like to offer congratulations to Paul Merriman and Max Varney. Paul was best Expert and Max best Clubman in the 2010 South Eastern Combine Championship. Well done the two of you, and all those other riders who support Witley and ride for the Club throughout the year. Of the clubs, Witley was third overall. Hopefully one of our enduro delegates will fill us in on some of the background?
Finally: We are just a couple of months away from the AGM – so time to start thinking, is there anything you could do on the Committee? I will be standing down as Company Secretary, so there’s one job you could be thinking about...Bernard Jay

A good crowd of members, family and friends enjoyed a Christmas Party at the Clubroom on Thursday December 16th. There was plenty of good food and company – over 60 altogether – and kids of all ages were very pleased that Shaun Smith had invited Santa to come along with his sack, which was full enough for everybody to receive a festive gift. There was a brainteasing quiz (thanks Jo) and the games facilities were well used too. If you weren’t there, you missed a treat. Just make sure you don’t miss the 2011 edition!

Areas of the woodland tracks had seen no direct sun for quite some time and despite the general release of the frosty grip that had paralysed the country some days before, the main access track to our usual car parking and start area in Chawton Park was still impassable.
After some soul-searching, the event was close to cancellation, but with careful marshalling and the co-operation of the riders and all the allimportant observers, Neil Bowker with his team of officials managed to run a very successful event. Dead engines before the start and after finishing a lap were the order of the day, which provided a safe environment in the cramped parking conditions and reduced the risk of any complaints from nearby residents. With a few more than 50 riders on the programme from postal entries, it was rewarding for the total numbers to rise to about 75 in total on the day.
