Portsmouth Motor Cycle Racing Club and Witley MCC collaborate in bringing you one of the kind event at one of Britain’s most iconic venues.

The Butser Sprint Rodeo will be the first time enduro bikes will be ridden in competition at the very venue that hosted the 1988 British World Trials Championship and more recently a round of The British Trials Championship. The event will consist of a sighting lap, then a minimum of 10 timed laps around this predominantly chalky venue, taking in some of the extreme gradients, flowing tracks, and technical loose climbs that this exceptional venue has to offer.

Clerk of the Course Euan Harrison aim is to set out a challenging course to test your hill climbing, descending skills with a speed element between the transitions. This will be tailored at a minimum Clubman A standard or above, nothing impossible but be realistic about your ability.

If you feel this might be too much for you then why not help on the day, there are plenty of positions for walking marshals to keep the event flowing. Please contact Neil on the number above with any marshalling enquiries.

Rich and Erika from Teamsnapper will be attending to capture the day.

British Solo Championship - Weston Trophy Trial Print E-mail

For the first time, Witley MCC has hosted a round of the British Trials Championship.

This landmark occasion took place on Sunday 22nd March at Butser Limeworks near Petersfield, scene of the British round of the World Championship in 1988 when Steve Saunders famously rode to victory.

A challenging course of 12 sections, to be ridden three times, had been laid out for the occasion by Clerk of the Course Neil Bowker, assisted as usual by Terry Tidbury but also by Steve Saunders himself.

The weather was kind, so the potential for this venue to turn into something more suitable for ice speedway was averted! However, inevitably the level of difficulty of this national event did leave some of the Expert support class struggling and this was demonstrated by some painful incidents, a few long faces and 16 retirements from a field of 82 starters. Sections 5 and 8 in particular took almost a full house of marks off the elite class, and although each was conquered, it was only with the liberal use of feet. The Youth A riders also found the going hard for the 125s.
